Nikon ED

The Nikon ED 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S with VRII vibration reduction is my favorite lens for just walking around due to the fact that I can leave all my other Nikon ED lenses at home. This lens covers all focal lengths  I could ever image. From wide angle to telephoto there’s one thing I appreciate an that is the flexibility that this lens offers.

The Nikon ED 18-200mm lens has two extra low dispersion elements and three aspherical lens elements and features Nikon Super Integrated Coating and the famous Nikon Silent Wave Motor. Focus can be as close as 2o inches.

With a weight of  1.2 pounds, the Nikon 18-200mm this is a heavy lens that doesn’t feel cheap or ligthweight.  This remarkable zoom lens feels like a professional zoom lens should feel like.  With dimensions of 10 inches long by 4 inches by four inches the 18-200mm zoom commands the business end of your Nikon digital SLR that offers 11x zoom capability and a 35mm equivalent of a 27mm to 300mm zoom ratio.

The Nikon vibration reduction system built into this lens is designed specifically for this particular lens only and  allows for hand held shooting up to four shutter speeds slower than what would be possible without the use of the vibration reduction system. Two ED (extra low dispersion) lens elements offers superior sharpness and color correction and also makes chromatic aberration even at wide angle settings a very small possibility.

The seven blades with a rounded diaphragm allow for natural looking  out of focus elements, and the inclusion of both VR settings and and Manual/Autofocus button on the barrel of the Nikon 18-200 zoom lens allow for easy and fast switching of the lens settings using tactile buttons instead of software settings in the camera which can be hard to manage. Included is a flower shaped lens hood  (HB-35) to protect the front lens element  from physical damage but also stray light which can be detrimental to your overall image.
